Glazing using glass, or float glass will be used for ordinary picture framing glass. UV Filtering glass is another
method used which merges the finest viewing clarity with the finest uv-protection. An additional method used is the water white glass method. This type of material will improve the light diffusion, and in turn present precision to the work. This material offers a choice of being used with or without uv-filtering.
A variety of different types of wood is used at Pauli Frames. These include oak, ash, beech, maple, cherry and obeche. The advantages of these materials are that they can be stained and waxed to the clients desire.
To achieve the highest possible standards, we additionally specialise in gilding. With gilding, the frames are coated with several layers of gesso, and then dyed. The traditional method of gesso is used in order to provide the perfect base for a sophisticated and elegant finish. This allows us to provide a water based paint, which will suit the subject to perfection. The next step to ensure satisfaction is to use water-gilding, using either a 12 carat gold leaf, or a 24 carat gold leaf.
